Breakfast Ideas!!

Breakfast, as we all know is the most important meal of the day! However, eating when you are not hungry, especially in the morning, is actually not very good for you. So it's best to wait, if you are busy you can take breakfast on the go!! The best thing to have when you first wake up is a medium - large glass of warm lemon water. Lemons are detoxifying and believe it or not, ALKALINE!! When you wake up your body is undergoing a cleansing period so that's why you may not feel hungry! Drinking Lemon water first thing will hydrate and awaken the organs and digestive system in order to assimilate and utilise food that will be consumed later on.

When it is time to finally eat something (30 or so Minutes after the Lemon water) you'll start to feel a bit hungry; and this is when you should eat. Remember that breakfast can make or break your eating day; for me personally this is true. I know starting my day off with a nice (gigantic)  Green Warrior Smoothie, it makes me feel amazing and motivates me to eat healthy all throughout the day. However, I have noticed when I haven't had such a healthy start, throughout the day I choose unhealthy options and therefore everything goes out of whack; my mood and motivation descends and  consequently my self esteem cascades into a negative self-bullying, inner mean girl frenzy.
So in order to combat the inner nasty, it's best to start the day off right, here are some ideas;

- Oat and Chia Porridge topped with your favourite fruit
- Avocado on Whole grain toast (spelt, kamut etc)
- Green Smoothie
- (for the sweet tooth) Raw Chocolate NanaNice-Cream
- Apple slices and nut butter
- Coconut Yogurt with raw oats and fruit
- Fruit salad
- Poached Organic Free Range Eggs and veggies
- Homemade muesli bar
- Healthy Homemade Muffins
- Healthy Homemade Pancakes

The List really could go on !!! The best breakfast is simple and nourishing, it is also best to see what your body wants (sweet, savoury, hearty, light etc.) in order to feel satiated.

Simple Veggie and Pinto Bean Stir- fry on Brown rice and Sweet Potato Mash

Step 1.
First place 1/2 cup of Brown Rice to boil
Take one big sweet potato (pealed) and boil
Step 2.
Prepare the Beans (I used pinto beans canned -rinse and drain)  and chop the veggies, I used red and yellow capsicums, purple cabbage, Broccolini, 2 cloves of garlic and fresh basil.
Step 3.
Once the Sweet Potato and Brown rice are done, set aside and Stir fry the veggies in veggie broth (I used Organic Veg stock by Pacific) add the garlic, veggies and beans and stir until they have become soft. Add some Tamari (wheat free soya sauce) and stir, add the basil at the end and turn off the heat.
Step 4.
Mash the Sweet potato with a fork or potato masher and add a slash of tamari.
Place the Sweet potato mash on a plate followed by the Brown Rice and the Stir Fry veg.
Add some more fresh basil to garnish and enjoy :D
